Too Plain

It’s summer and it’s H.O.T.!!! I love cold, refreshing water on a hot summer day. Last year, I challenged myself to drink water every day, all day. This would start from the minute I woke up, throughout the whole day and end the minute I went to bed. It was very a challenge at first, but eventually, I mastered it. I am down to guzzling a gallon of water day, sometimes even more. I know, I know that they say more than a gallon a day is not good for you, BUT I beg to differ. Hey, we are all reserved the right to voice our own opinions ;). It seems that I literally cannot live without water. I can feel (literally) when I haven’t had enough for the day — my head hurts, I feel dizzy and I am irritable. Since my personal challenge last year, I have noticed something — water is very….plain. I immediately started looking up ways to liven up my water, so I wouldn’t start using excuses to NOT drink it. I love fresh citrus fruit, cucumbers and mint leaves in my water now, it just adds to the refreshing taste. I am going to share some recipes with you that I use to make my water consumption, less plain.
Lemon Water

1 whole lemon
Water bottle (I usually use a 32 oz or my blender bottle) or cup

Wash and cut lemon into slices or wedges and add to water bottle or cup. If it’s in the water bottle, shake it up and sometimes I let it sit over night and the next morning it’s the most refreshing water you will ever taste!

Lime Water

1 whole lime
Water bottle (I usually use a 32 oz or my blender bottle) or cup

Wash and cut lime into slices or wedges and add to water bottle or cup. If it’s in the water bottle, shake it up and sometimes I let it sit over night and the next morning it’s the most refreshing water you will ever taste!

Cucumber Water

1 whole cucumber
Water bottle (I usually use a 32 oz or my blender bottle) or cup

Wash and cut cucumber into slices or wedges and add to water bottle or cup. If it’s in the water bottle, shake it up and sometimes I let it sit over night and the next morning it’s the most refreshing water you will ever taste! *You may want to use half of cucumber, depending on the size of the water bottle or cup.

Fresh Mint Water

A few fresh mint leaves
Water bottle (I usually use a 32 oz or my blender bottle) or cup

Wash fresh mint leaves and add to water bottle or cup. If it’s in the water bottle, shake it up and sometimes I let it sit over night and the next morning it’s the most refreshing water you will ever taste!

Lemon, Lime, Cucumber & Fresh Mint Leaves Water

1 whole lemon
1 whole lime
1 whole or half cucumber
A few fresh mint leaves
Water bottle (I usually use a 32 oz or my blender bottle) or cup

Wash lemon, lime, cucumber (cut these three ingredients into slices or wedges) and fresh mint leaves and add to water bottle or cup. If it’s in the water bottle, shake it up and sometimes I let it sit over night and the next morning it’s the most refreshing water you will ever taste!

I recently fell in love with gardening (kinda sorta). For the second year in a row, I was given a mint leaf plant and I love it! I just go on my porch and cut a few leaves off and add to my water or green tea. I also recently purchased a basil leaf plant and I love having access to fresh basil to add to my cooking.

I hope you enjoy these water recipes and no longer have to suffer the boring, plain taste of water, all of the time! Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes I do prefer just plain water but on the days where I want to spice things up, I turn to these water recipes 🙂
