$5

Do you know what I have been noticing the past few weeks? Unhealthy food is so NOT expensive! Twice today I heard a Diary Queen commercial advertising a bacon cheeseburger for $5, $5! This price includes, the burger, fries AND a fountain drink. I think that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Over the past few weeks I have seen McDonald’s commercials advertising the dollar menu which includes everything from burgers to fries to chicken sandwiches to shakes. And if I see ONE more commercial about Taco Bell selling breakfast, I think I will loose whatever meal I had last. It is just astounding to me that unhealthy foods are extremely affordable BUT it seems that you have to break the bank to buy healthy foods. There have been times when I have gone to the market and my final price looked like the price of buying food for a family of 4, not 1 and my main purchases were fruits and veggies! This is upsets me more than anything. There are so many people who want to get healthy but honestly cannot afford it so they opt for the cheaper, unhealthy meals.

Honestly, it would be nice if everyone were into healthy foods but sometimes people just cannot afford it. Not to mention that unhealthy foods taste so much better than healthy foods. I really feel it deep down in my soul that I want to do something to change that, I want to make healthy foods affordable. I just do not know what to do but I’m sure it will come to me.

Until then, I will continue to budget and save up to buy healthy foods such as fruits and veggies. It is possible to do so, you just have to really want to. There are so many delicious, healthy food recipes out there. I will continue to try and post my version of healthy eating recipes and hopefully this will encourage people to take the leap and go healthy!
